New Program From the Cradle in CDMX

The Government of Mexico City (CDMX) has launched a new program called "Desde la Cuna" (From the Cradle), aimed at families with children in early childhood. The main objective of this program is to provide a guaranteed basic income to households with infants under 0 to 3 years old, in order to promote their comprehensive development.

Registration for the program takes place at the Points of Innovation, Freedom, Art, Education, and Knowledge (PILARES) located in different boroughs of Mexico City. Enrollment started on November 8, 2023, and can still be done if the child was born in 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024 and is a maximum of 3 years and 10 months old at the time of registration.

This universal economic support aims to benefit all families that meet the requirements, regardless of their socioeconomic level. It focuses on the well-being of early childhood, a crucial stage in the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of children, also seeking to promote more equitable conditions for minors.

To access the "Desde la Cuna" program, applicants must be a mother, father, guardian, or caretaker of a child under 3 years and 10 months old, reside in Mexico City, and not be receiving other similar supports. A registration application and the necessary documentation must be submitted, which includes a copy of the child's birth certificate, vaccination card, valid official identification with photo, CURP, and proof of residence in Mexico City.

The General Coordination of Social Inclusion has implemented an online system to facilitate the registration of children, which will be used to integrate the beneficiary registry. Enrollment modules will also be available to provide assistance in the registration process, where the documents must be presented in original and simple copy for verification.
